Should You Live Together Before Marriage?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Sandra Harmon Men need “chase space” to fall in love. They need to be inspired by a woman who is high maintenance in the love department. If you become his undocumented wife, housekeeper, lover, companion and friend, and share the finances for the apartment, food and entertainment, he won’t be able to chase you nor will he be willing to marry you easily, because he knows too much about you. Why should he marry you when he doesn’t really have to? If a woman requires a man to make a commitment before sex, to a long term goal of marriage and monogamy, she may lose the guy who only wants sex, but she will not lose a man who wants to marry. If a woman requires at least an engagement ring and a wedding date before living with him, she may lose the man who wants a freebie loaner wife, but not the man who wants to marry. Romance happens in the courtship phase. It’s purpose is to build good positive memories on which a marriage can be built. If you live together, the natural problems which will emerge, will disallow romantic fantasies which are so important. Not enough day dreaming time and too much problem solving can make a relationship a business deal rather than an exchange of respect for cherishing. In the western world, where marriages are romantically based rather than “arranged”, living together is statistically not a good way to begin or build a romance leading to a good marriage. The Dangers of Harry Potter

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Mike Bradley The Harry Potter book has just been released in the bookstores this week. This book is the sixth book in a planned series of 7 books. Im sure you have all heard that these books have been a huge success and there are millions of kids throughout the world hooked on these books as well as quite a few adults themselves. The publishing industry has never seen anything quite like this. What is the fascination with these books and now the movie? Why are so many children and some adults drawn to these books? There have always been movies and fiction books on witchcraft, wizardry and sorcery - but none of them have ever obtained the popularity that this series of books has. What is so different with this line of books? Why are they so much more popular than anything else that has ever been written? Many of the major Christian ministries are up in major arms about thesebooks and now the movie. They say these books are a lure to lead children and adults into witchcraft and the other dark occult arts. However, we have always had these types of movies and books coming at us. Why all of a sudden are so many Christians coming out against these books where they have really not done this in the past with all of the fantasy movies Hollywood has come out with in the past. I’ve always felt in my spirit that there really was something different with these series of books - but I never bought or read any of them. I went ahead and rented the very first Harry Potter video and watched it in its complete entirety to see if these Christians were right in their criticism of this movie and these books or if they were just getting too carried away on what at first glance just seems to be harmless fantasyentertainment. After watching and reviewing this movie very carefully, it is my personal opinion that the Christians who are up in arms over these books and movie are right! This movie, and especially the series of books themselves, is a definite lure from the dark side to entice and trap people into not only witchcraft itself - but other occult arts, which are expressly forbidden by God the Father in the Bible. There is no question that Satan is the one orchestrating the way that these books have been written up and how they have been so cleverly marketed to a mass audience who have no idea what is really lurking behind all of it. Satan has very cleverly put a major spiritual secret in these books and movies that is in operation in the spiritual realm that will draw some of the more ignorant and naive into the real world ofwitchcraft. That spiritual secret is the law of seeking. The Bible tells us to seek - and then we will find. This spirtual principle not only works in God’s realm - but it also works in the realm of Satan where he and his demons roam seeking next who they can devour. And Harry Potter is coincidentally given the official title of a seeker in the very first book. And what is a seeker going to find if he starts to research the subject of witchcraft and sorcery after reading these kinds of books and having the seeds of desire implanted in them as a result of reading these kind of books? Hundreds and hundreds of books on the subject of witchcraft - all with specific titles on how to actually become a witch, how to form out a coven, how to actually cast spells, etc. Go to any major Borders book store - and you will literally see several hundreds of books in their metaphysical section - all dealing specifically with the subject of witchcraft and how to get started and progress further into it. And once that person decides he is going to try out some of this occult activity - he has now officially crossed over into enemy terrority and he has now given the demonic realm full legal right to come into him and his life. And all of this can be started by just a few seeds of desire that can planted into someone by just imagining and fantasizing what it would be like if they could obtain the kind of supernatural power that Harry Potter has in all of these books. And with many of the readers of this line of books being our younger children - it doesn’t take much to see what a deadly combination this could be for a very young, innocent and highly suggestible mind. All Christians, especially Christians who have younger children who are wanting to read and really get into these books, should be warned about the spiritual trap that is being laid with these books. Religion

By Aaron Schwartz The paper analyzes Christian concept of love on the basis of Paul Ramseys work Basic Christian Ethics. At the beginning the general information and comparison of Christian love to other concepts of love are given. Then it is traced how love is interpreted by Paul Ramsey and its entity is revealed. And finally, an attempt to extrapolate the concept of Christian love to the modern society is made and its vague perspectives conclude the paper. Introduction Human society was always characterized by a wide variety of views, particularly on such concepts as ethics, love, death, etc. These concepts remain actual nowadays and they are even more difficult to define and to make them universal for different societies. Traditionally western societies were characterized by the domination of Christian views which could be treated as universal to a certain extent. Naturally, they did not remain rigorous, they gradually evaluated but basic principles remained practically unchangeable though there were different interpretations and views on one and the same problem or concept. One of such conceptual things is the notion of love and Christian views on love. In the 20th century, a lot of arguments were hold on the concept of Christian love, different specialists suggested different interpretations, even those who were not big specialists in Christianity. At this respect, particularly interesting for further study seems to be the work of Paul Ramsey, namely his Basic Christian Ethics, in which he discusses Christian love in details and thoroughly analyze it in the context of the Christian religion. Naturally, Christian concept differs significantly from views of other religions or philosophical schools but it still pretends to become universal due to the fact that Christianity is widely spread through out the world and is the basis for western culture and philosophy that nowadays dominates in the world and in the future this trend may be even stronger than it has ever been before. This article will basically focus on Paul Ramsey interpretation of love in the Christian religion, its aspects and entity. Christian love compared to other human loves From the very beginning it is necessary to underline that different human societies, different cultures even different individuals have different views and understanding of the concept of love. It is particularly important to realize what Christian love really means because it is one of the basic concepts of Christianity at large. At this respect, Paul Ramseys Basic Christian Ethics is very helpful for it reveals the entity of Christian love in relatively modern interpretation of a person who is a representative of the 20th century that is to a certain extent revolutionary period in human history and in relation of people to love. However, even within Christianity there is no consensus, no universal agreement about Christian love. For instance, there were Christian ethicists, basically protestants that created a so-called Agapeism and they supported the idea of authentic Christian love. On the other hand, they had some opponents, and Paul Ramsey was one of them, who disagreed with the concept of authentic Christian love. Actually, they conceived of authentically Christian love or agape as fundamentally other directed and free of egocentric self-love. (Niebuhr 1992:163). At the same time, according to Paul Ramsey, Christian love is basically self-giving and it is oriented entirely toward help to other people and that all people should live peacefully and love each other. Naturally, such attitude to love presuppose a persons readiness to sacrifice himself or herself for interests of other people or for the interests of the whole community a person lives in. it means that unlike some other individualistic concepts of love, Christian love, according to Paul Ramsey, is societal and oriented on neighbors and their well-being. However, critics indicate that the readiness for self-sacrifice is not love itself but it is simply demonstration of love in probably its extreme point. Thus, it is obvious that among different views on love there may exist different concepts of love and all of them have their own particular traits. At the same time, Christian love may also be understood differently, and it is extremely important to analyze these views in order to find the general concept. Probably, Paul Ramseys study could help to understand one of the possible interpretations of concepts of love but it demands a more detailed analysis of his views that would be done in the next chapter of the paper. Christian love as it is seen by Paul Ramsey As it has already been said Paul Ramsey supports the idea that Christian love is not self-oriented love but on the contrary Christian love in its large sense means a persons readiness to scarify for the sake of other people as it has once done Jesus who died for all human beings and their well-being and salvage. So, he considers that Christian ethics denies that self-love is more preferable or even admissible for good Christians. On the contrary he considers self-love as idolatry. It means that in his interpretation Christian love presuppose love that is oriented on other people or as Jesus said people should love their neighbors. Actually, this idea originates form the Mosaic laws and it was further developed in the New Testament. So, it may be said that such views on love are traditional and have deep historical roots in the Christian religion. Actually, such interpretation and attitude toward love was quite revolutionary because basically there were a bit individualistic views and philosophy that dominated in other religions and cultures. Moreover, it was traditional to support quite negative attitude to representatives of other communities for instance. In order to understand this attitude it is necessary to analyze the period when the Christian concept of love was developed and formulated. In the ancient world as well as later until the present moment it was a norm when hate was a basis of upbringing, namely hate to enemies of a certain clan, or even nation. So, Christian love aimed at the victory of love over the enemies hatred through the love of Jesus Christ alone. (Hershberger 1985:35). On the individual level the situation was practically the same. Individual interests were practically always and everywhere higher and more significant then interests of other people. Naturally, Christian appeal to love neighbors was if not extraordinary than a bit unusual because it suggested to an individual to scarify his or her interests and care about other people even those whom the individual did not know. To a certain extent, Christian concept of love was even revolutionary because it made people treat people around them differently. It was quite innovative idea, and very humanistic one by the way, because it suggested a new philosophy and ideology. According to Christian views and Christian love people could live peacefully in harmony with their neighbors and with their own selves. It also suggested a new view on the role of individual in the community. Despite it decreased individual interests but, on the other hand, Christianity increased the role of an individual. It sounds a bit paradoxically but still it is true because the concept of Christian love presuppose that all people through mutual love will help each other and care about interests of each other rather than about individual interests. Furthermore, according to Paul Ramsey, Christian conception of love is characterized by a very critical interpretation and attitude to self while collective interests, i.e. the interests of the society and all of its members are highly valued as the most precious things. He estimates that Christian ethics encourages neighbor-oriented love that means that every Christian should care about others in first turn and only then about themselves. Paul Ramsey in Basic Christian Ethics supports such a position and states on the ground of criticism of self-love and egocentrism. As an alternative to self-love he suggested the concept of disinterested love. By the way, this concept is supported by many other specialists in Christian ethics, such as Hershberger. According to them, the Christian understanding of self as socially constituted and corporately united stands against all atomistic and anarchic estimates of selfhood. As a result self-love in the Christian tradition is not honored, on the contrary, Christian understanding should incline Christians to think and act with global and neighborly interests that moderate individual ones. Consequently, it is possible to say that Christian concept of love differs significantly from what is now traditionally understood by love. Quite interesting seems to be Paul Ramsey view on the relation of love and justice. For instance, he states that the Bible knows nothing, or little, of any conflict between justice and love. (Ramsey 1950:5). But at the same time he estimates that love transforms justice and the social and legal system is moved from below by pressures, and justice is usually found among the jar of opposing forces and between contending factions. (Ramsey 1961:47). Also it has to be said that Paul Ramsey is a proponent of permeability of justice to charity and he concedes a kind of priority for justice in normal, sinful society. Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Patrick Gillam If youre a marketing executive with a small budget and a big need for sales letters, web content and more, you may be looking at writing them yourself. How tough can it be? When you were in school you got As in your English courses, right? Mostly As, anyway. Before you launch in, though, consider these points: A direct mail letter is not the same as a book report. A web page isnt an essay. And your teachers were paid to read your work. You might need some professional tricks to make this work. Let me give you a handful right here. Follow these rules and you just might make the grade. Start with your audiences needs Youve heard the clichs. People dont buy drill bits they buy holes. Dont tell me about your grass seed tell me about my lawn. Your first job as a writer is to articulate the benefits you offer or the problems you solve. Low mortgage rates tells about you. Its easier than ever to own your own home talks about your customer. Verbs are your best friends Which of these groups of bullet points would you rather read? Higher ROIFaster inventory turnsMore cross-sellingorRaise ROITurn inventories fasterCross-sell on every sale Its a small difference, but it adds up. Look for opportunities to energize everything you write by using verbs at every opportunity. Remember what your teacher told you about active sentence constructions Passive sentences read this: Inventories are counted automatically as sales accrue. Active sentences go like this: StockPro automatically counts inventories as you sell. Write active sentences. Remember those verbs, above? Put them to work. Two words: short paragraphs If you cant say what you want to say in three lines of a Word document, your idea is too complicated. Break it down. Short paragraphs reduce the amount of grey space on the page and push the reader to the call to action at the end. Sleep on it, then revise Good writing comes from being unwilling to settle. When you read it a few days later, do you still like it? Be willing to throw stuff out and start over. It happens! And its good. How to Create an Amazing Abstract Painting

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

By Jeffrey Hauser Ive been painting for over 40 years. I have a degree in fine art and a Masters. Ive taught and produced paintings and murals, one over 65 feet long. But Ive also co-painted several pieces with novices, including my wife. Its a lot easier than you think to make something special. So, whether you have never lifted a brush or like to mess around with paint, now read this. You have the makings of a terrific artist. Its fun and easy. Let me walk you through the basics. STEP 1: Go to a local hobby store like Michaels, Joann or an art supply store and buy a pre-stretched and pre-primed white 18 by 24 inch canvas, which makes an ideal starting size. It should cost less than ten bucks. I know you can get a six-pack for $50. While youre there, buy four or five, 4 ounce tubes of Basic Liquitex or a similar, inexpensive acrylic latex artists paint. They should cost around $5 each. Pick colors you like or ones that will match the room where the art will be hung. Dont pick white, black, or gray but shades of brown or gold are all equally okay to use. Remember, we want this to be as colorful as possible. You wont even need brushes of anything else. You can always buy a cheap frame later, if needed. STEP 2: Bring everything home and place some newspaper on the table youll be using. Lay the canvas flat on the paper and get a paper bowl for each color. To begin with, squeeze a quarter-sized dollop of each color into a bowl. Add a few drops of water as needed to make the paint flow well. Chose which color will be the dominant or primary background color. Add another extra squirt to that bowl and get ready to have some fun. STEP 3: You will now spread the main color across the canvas. You have 3 options, depending on how messy you want to be. You can use your fingers and hand, dipped directly into the bowl, or cover your hand in clear, Saran-type wrap first and use that method, or use a brush. I like the hand idea because its more fun and you get more involved. Either way, dip into the color and spread the color over the canvas quickly without any attempt to cover it completely. Just swirl around the color here and there until at least three-quarters is covered. Now, without waiting for it to dry, pick a secondary color and go over the empty spaces, while overlapping the first one. Use quick strokes, smearing the paint. STEP 4: Now, go to the third bowl and use either one finger or a thin (half-inch) brush. Dip into the paint and make side to side movements in all directions, covering any areas you choose without trying to make an object or picture. Try diagonal lines and curved shapes as well. Dont let the paint dry and move on to the final color. Do the same with you finger, overlapping the last color and smearing and swirling as you go. STEP 5: Now, go back to the first color and add a bit more water until its drippy. Then, pick up the bowl and fold the edge to form a small pouring spout. Pour or drip the paint from a height of a few inches above the canvas onto the picture, letting the randomness form squiggles and droplets everywhere. Youll know when youre finished. Let it all dry before placing it upright. You now have a beautiful abstract creation youll probably want to sign and frame. The great thing about this way of painting is that it doesnt require any artistic talent. And if you dont like the way it turned out, let it dry and paint over it with common household white paint. Then start all over. Some words of advice from someone who has done this before. The more you allow the paint to ebb and flow, the better. Be quick, random, and dont over-think what you intend to do. It looks best when done with a free and easy hand. And thats the last thought. Use your hands; theyll wash up just fine and you can truly say you have a hand-made piece of artwork. Personal Loans: Borrow Sensibly And Pay On Time

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Philip_Mould]Philip Mould There are so many uses of personal loans as there are people who borrow them. There are some general rules that you should apply while borrowing like how much you should borrow and how much time you will take to repay it. You should also be careful in choosing the type of personal loans. Repaying your personal loan before agreed loan term can cost you higher. In such case lender may charge early payment penalty. It is irrelevant whether you are a homeowner or not, you can always take personal loans. Though, unsecured personal loans are said to be bit dearer in terms of interest rates, you can compare various offers of the lenders online before concluding the deal. With so many loan providers in the market, personal loan interest rate is declining drastically. Loan providers often add the hidden cost which is normally in small print. So, you should ask your lender to explain everything before sealing the deal. Generally there are two types of personal loans: secured personal loans and [http://www.loans-bazaar.co.uk/loans_help.html]unsecured personal loans. Secured personal loans are normally secured over your home or any other collateral. It will provide lender a right to dispose off your home to recover the amount owed in the event of failure. Secured personal loans offer low interest rates. It is convenient to borrow a large amount through secured personal loans. Repayment period of secured personal loans ranges from five to twenty five years. You can use personal loans to renovate your house, buy a car, consolidate your debts or for any other purpose. Homeowner Loans For Self-Employed: Loans for Buying Home to Entrepreneurs

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christian_Phelps]Christian Phelps Being employed in this modern era, helps a person the most while approaching for a loan. It simplifies the lending process a lot. A few decades ago the term self-employed was taken in somewhat a vague sense. A number of misconceptions had cropped up regarding self employment at that time. It was simply considered being same as one of the forms unemployment. But the days have changed now and self employed persons are getting dew regard. The lenders are showing a lot of interest in issuing different loans to the self-employed. Homeowner loans for self-employed is a loan issued to a self employed secured against his home. Just like the other loans, homeowner loans for self employed are also of two types: secured and unsecured. In the first type, the customer has to keep his house as the collateral. In case the borrower is unable to pay off the debt, the home kept as mortgage will be at risk. The unsecured loan is also a loan for the homeowners, where initially the loan is not secured against the home. But in the case repayment is not made, the debt will be automatically added to the house. The profit earned by selling the house will be diverted to the repayment.Homeowner loans for Self-employed: Necessity Homeowner loans for self employed can be used for various purposes. In cases where a person is seeking to raise some fund for improvement of his house or searching for financial assistance to buy a car, homeowner loans for self employed will surely be a good alternative. Homeowner loans for self employed prove to be useful in situation where you want to pay off the existing debt taken at some higher rate. Eligibility, Interest rates, Terms and conditions:Credit rating is the major eligibility criterion which decides the lending procedure. Good credit rating makes the process of lending very simple. It is quite obvious because credit score reflects your financial character. For this reason, a person with good credit rating gets the loan at lower rate than a person with bad credit history. The interest rate in the case of loans for self employed varies from 7.7% APR to 18.3 % APR. The upper bound of the rates is for poor credit holders. So it is a must to maintain a good credit rating, prior to go for the loan, if you want to extract the maximum benefit. As a customer goes for homeowner loans for self employed, the lenders demand for income proof and it solely depends on them to get satisfied by the proof. But as mentioned earlier, the lenders have started to see them as a future prospect. In these types of homeowner loans for self employed, the financers may ask for some higher down payment but there is nothing to worry at all. Homeowner Loans for Self-employed: A brief SummaryIn a nutshell, homeowner loans for self-employed is very useful in many adverse situations. Ortho Evra Patch: Lucky to be Alive

Friday, February 15th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=J_Mundy] J Mundy In June 2006, Amanda Grenon, aged 25, experienced severe leg cramps and swelling that caused excruciating pain. She had recently been on the Ortho Evra Patch. I called my doctor and told him my symptoms but he didnt think it was that important, said Amanda. Neither Amanda or her doctor equated the warning signs to a blood clot, or the Ortho Evra patch. Although he didnt have an opening, I went to his office anyway and sat in the waiting room. By the time I got there, my entire leg was swollen and purple. The nurse took one look and called the doctor he wasnt in the office and she told me to go to ER right away. Luckily it was adjacent to his office. The nurse thought it was a possible blood clot but until a Doppler was done, like an ultrasound, they couldnt tell for sure. As soon as I got to ER a doctor told me that I had all the symptoms of a blood clot. A technician scanned my leg and sure enough, he found a massive clot. There is a main vein running down your leg and right in the groin area the clot was cutting off the blood supply to my leg, hence the discoloration. Blood thinners were immediately injected into my stomach and by the time I left hospital, one week later, I was covered in bruises from all the injections. The doctor said I was lucky because if the clot had moved further up my vein, I might have died. What a close call! They call blood clots the silent killer because quite often you dont get any symptoms. In my case they started as leg cramps in September but I wasnt hospitalized until November. My doctor told me that it takes from three to five days for a clot to develop, so in the course of several months, it developed and moved up my leg. In September, I got a pain in my calf but I thought it was just a charley horse. My doctor thought I had low potassium so I had blood tests but they came back normal. Then I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon, thinking I might have suffered an injury. Nobody ever thought that it could have been a blood clot until I showed up at my doctors office in November with a purple leg. I feel like I have been robbed of my health and I am so frustrated. I have so many medical bills already, it is ridiculous. Now I have to get blood tests every week and I will be on blood thinners for God knows how long. I am only 25 years old and these are supposed to be the best years of our lives. It is terrible to be ill; I feel so bad for all the women who are suffering from taking Ortho Evra. It isnt right that the drug makers got so greedy and put money before our well-being. It is beyond frustrating that drug manufacturers could do this to millions of women.
